September 10, 2022 by Webmaster Leave a Comment

Tina Fernandez Steckler, Kathy Kimberlin, and Lisa Stambaugh will be speaking about:

Tri-City Nonprofit Coalition was founded in 2020 with the mission of strengthening the ability of all Tri-City nonprofit organizations to successfully accomplish their respective missions by collaborating, sharing information, and raising community awareness. Spearheaded by Kathy Kimberlin, Lisa Stambaugh, and Tina Fernandez Steckler, a team of long-time Tri-City area residents active with community nonprofits, the Coalition’s creation was inspired by their desire to strengthen the many nonprofits through idea and resource sharing, and more. Current TCNPC objectives include creating a collaborative environment, providing an information hub useful to Tri-City nonprofits and community members, facilitating learning opportunities, strengthening partnerships, and building an alliance of supporting businesses, organizations, and individuals who wish to support nonprofits’ success. Coalition resources include a nonprofit directory, a comprehensive event calendar, a list of volunteer opportunities, a library of vendors and professional service resources, educational and networking events, a newsletter, and a virtual bulletin board to share nonprofit job openings and other useful information.

Tina Fernandez Steckler, has been a Fremont resident since 1991 and has worked in various capacities for nonprofits for many years. She’s currently the Executive Director at the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation, and prior to that served as Development Director at SAVE (Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments). A 2013 Fremont Chamber of Commerce Leadership Fremont graduate, she is a member of the Niles Fremont Rotary Club. Kathy Kimberlin, By day, Kathy enjoys her work in FUSD supporting students, teachers and families. In addition, she’s the Executive Director of the Fremont Education Foundation. Both of her sons graduated from FUSD; their school years built her foundation for volunteerism and strong community relationships. Other community ties are found in her service as President of the Centerville Business & Community Association, City of Fremont Government Affairs Committee, Fremont 4th of July Board, and the Rotary Club of Fremont. Lisa Stambaugh Lisa is a 40+ year resident of Fremont, and a member of both the Fremont and Mission San Jose Chambers of Commerce. She enjoys working with local nonprofit organizations to help them establish and develop an Internet presence, and volunteers in a variety of non-technical capacities (everything from costume design to handmade auction prizes). Out of the 700+ websites she’s built over 25 years, 100+ of them were for nonprofit organizations or programs.

Moina Shaiq will speak on:

Meet a Muslim

Like many Americans, Moina was profoundly affected by the events of September 11th, 2001, but as an Arab-American, she was concerned that her Muslim faith could make her a target of hostility. So she dove head first into volunteerism in her hometown. But after the 2015 mass shooting in San Bernardino, she began to feel that community service wasn’t enough. She decided to take action, and placed an ad in the local paper inviting people she didn’t know to join her at a neighborhood café and “Meet a Muslim” in person. One hundred people showed up at that first meeting – and her gatherings have been growing ever since.

Moina Shaiq has been living in the United States for 43 years. She is a mother of four children and a grandmother of six. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Economics. She is also a community activist, devoting herself to building bridges of understanding.
